CESS Fall 2024 - Call for Proposals EXTENDED


Dear all,

We are writing to inform you that the call for proposals for the CESS 2024 Fall Conference in Syracuse has been extended to June 1, 2024. Thank you for all the proposals we have received so far. For those who missed the original deadline, the extended deadline will give you time to complete your application.

  • Call for Proposals Opens: April 24, 2024
  • Proposal Submission Deadline: June 1, 2024
  • Proposal Outcomes Communicated: June 30, 2024
  • Conference Registration Opens: July 2024
  • Preliminary Conference Program: July 15, 2024
  • Presenter Registration Deadline: July 15, 2024
  • Final Conference Program: September 2, 2024

 

Submit Proposal
For this conference, we highly encourage all participants to form their own panels.  Individual paper proposals will also be accepted.

In addition to ‘traditional’ (chair, 3-4 presenters, discussant) panels and roundtables, we encourage other proposals, including scholarrship-in progress and author-critic forums.
 

Key Features of CESS Fall 2024:


Host: Syracuse University, The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse, NY.
Geographic Focus: Central Asia, the Caucasus, Iran, Afghanistan, Xinjiang, Tibet, Mongolia, Siberia, Inner Asia, the Black Sea region, the Volga region, and East and Central Europe.
Types of Panels: Traditional panels, roundtables, scholarship-in-progress, events-in-progress, and author-critic forums.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Read Conference Rules and Language Policy: Essential for all participants.
  • Online Submission: Proposals must be submitted through CESS Conference Website.
  • Deadline: Proposals must be submitted by June 1, 2024, at 11:59 pm EST.

Chair. Jeff Sahadeo. 
CESS Past President Jeff Sahadeo is a Professor of Eastern European, Russian and Central Asian politics, societies and history. His teaching interests include diaspora, migration,  colonialism, nationality, frontiers, and borders in relations of power and the creation of identities and states. Jeff’s current research focuses on the intersection between nature and society, movement and social change through a study of rivers in Georgia.
