BEST BOOK ON NATIONALISM (Joseph Rothschild Award)

The 2020 Harriman ASN Book Prize was awarded to Jelena Subotic for Yellow Star, Red Star: Holocaust Remembrance After Communism (Cornell 2019). An Honorable Mention was also given to Licia Cianetti for The Quality of Divided Democracies: Minority Inclusion, Exclusion, and Representation in the New Europe (Michigan 2019).

The 2020 Huttenbach Prize for Best Article Published in Nationalities Papers went to Mark T. Kettler for “Designing Empire for the Civilized East: Colonialism, Polish Nationhood, and German War Aims in the First World War” (vol. 47, no. 6, 2019).

BEST WORLD DOCUMENTARY

The 2019 Award for Best Documentary went to The Trial of Ratko Mladic (UK, 2018). Special mentions were given to Novaya (Russia, 2019) and The Waldheim Waltz (Austria, 2018).

BEST PAPERS PHOTO IN NATIONALITIES PAPERS

The winners of the Second Annual Nationalities Papers Photo Contest were Julie George (CUNY Queen’s College, US), Paul Goode (Carleton U, Canada), Mila Dragojević (Sewanne U of the South, US), Ana Milosević (KU Leuven, Belgium), Kira Kaurinkoski (Aix-Marseille U, France; Finland), and Buket Oztas (Furman U, US). The pictures were taken during field work and will grace the covers of the printed version of Nationalities Papers throughout 2020.
